Spiced tea is closely associated with traditional Russian culture and considered the de facto national beverage. Drinking tea in Russia is a very social thing to do, much like the tea-drinking culture in India. We had this in mind when we curated this blend with a caffeine-free twist - give you an opportunity to invite people over for tea, and sit, talk and drink tea for hours, while eating gourmet baked delicacies.

Tasting notes:
This tea-botanica gets it boldness and heady aroma from the strong tea concentrate made with organic rooibos, blended with warming spices - cinnamon, nutmeg and star anise. Sugar is not typically added directly to the cup but held in the mouth instead as you sip your tea.

Steeping notes:
Steep 2 teaspoons of tea in a cup (200ml) of hot water (boil and cool to 98°C), for 2 minutes. Strain and serve hot.

Ingredients:
Organic rooibos, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and nutmeg

A NOTE FROM YOUR TEA SOMMELIER FOR YOU

This is a traditional and much-loved hot beverage in Russia since the late 19th century. In the glory days of the tsars, it was served from gleaming silver samovars, which today is a symbol of their hospitality.

Tea-drinking can be viewed as a way of relaxing, a conversation starter and important in resolving work matters and reconciliation. This caffeine-free botanica is loved not only for its warmth and taste but also for the feeling of well-being that it induces. The spices have a calming and comforting effect on body and mind.

It’s the evenings where I love to sip this warm-spiced blend. It is an opportunity to talk, share closeness and socialize. The tea can be drunk from special glass mugs encased in a metal holder, porcelain cups, or even tea saucers. Serving pastries adds to the tea-drinking experience. Toasts served with butter, home-baked cakes, and biscuits also pair well with this blend.
